Our Services

Sometimes you need another pair of eyes on your book. Sometimes you need someone to tell you whether the idea is worth writing in the first place.

Our editorial services are designed for authors who want practical, commercially focused advice, whether you're preparing to query, deciding what to write next, getting ready to self-publish or wondering why a manuscript isn't quite working.

Please note, if you sign up for Mentoring with Tracy, you may automatically get some of these services included (full manuscript read not included though). She will also read up to 5,000 words of your manuscript before each session. Find out about her mentoring services here

The Big Idea Audit

Before you spend six months writing it, let's work out which idea deserves six months of your life.

Got three book ideas fighting for your attention? A concept you love but aren't sure you can sell? Or perhaps you're deciding what to write after finishing a series or changing genre.

Send Tracy your ideas and she'll assess them from a commercial perspective, looking at genre, hook, current reader appetite, comparable books, positioning and how easily the concept can be communicated to an agent, publisher or reader.

You'll receive Tracy's written assessment of each idea, including which she believes has the strongest commercial potential and any changes she'd consider before you start writing.

This isn't about predicting a bestseller. If only anyone could do that! It's about spotting potential problems early and working out where your time is best spent.

Up to three book ideas: £125

The Stuck Book Surgery

Got halfway through your book and completely lost the plot? Possibly literally?

It happens. Maybe the middle has turned to treacle. Your characters have stopped behaving. You've written yourself into a corner. Or you've simply reached that horrible point where you're no longer sure whether the book is working at all.

Send Tracy up to 20,000 words of your manuscript, along with a synopsis, outline or notes explaining where you intended the story to go (messy notes absolutely allowed).

Tracy will read what you've written and look at where the problems might be coming from: whether that's plot, structure, pacing, character motivation, stakes, genre expectations or the central hook itself.

You'll receive written feedback plus the chance to email back and forth to untangle what's causing the problem and work out your next steps.

Reading And Coffee

The Submission Package

Get your book ready to send out

You've written the novel. Now you have to somehow squeeze the whole thing into a synopsis, make an agent care about it in a query letter and ensure those opening chapters are doing their job.

Tracy will review:

  • your first three chapters

  • your synopsis

  • your query letter ... or write one for you

  • your book blurb/pitch

You'll get detailed feedback on what's working, what could be stronger and how commercially appealing the package feels. Tracy will also look at whether the opening pages deliver on the promise you're making in your pitch.

For indie authors: we can adapt the package to concentrate on the parts readers see before they buy: your title, cover, book description and keywords, with a particular eye on genre positioning and commercial appeal.
